SF Ferry Building is working to fix the Clock Tower Chimes

We thought you would like to know about a story at SF Gate  about the missing, top-of-the-hour chimes from the San Francisco Ferry Buidling clock tower.

Port of San Francisco officials, who run the Ferry Building, agreed that the chimes are a worthy feature of the landmark structure, and said they are working to fix the problem.

The chimes ran on a computerized system that gave out in July, said Tedman Eng, the port’s information systems infrastructure manager.

The system was installed in 1997, the port said. The clock and the accompanying chimes were shut down in 2001 for a $100 million rehabilitation project of the building and restarted in June 2003.

I can’t wait to hear those chimes again. I really miss them.
