Beginning in March 2011, Golden Gate Ferry customers will see construction and installation of new Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVM) at the Larkspur and San Francisco Ferry Terminals, and at the Sausalito Ferry Landing. A total of 12 machines will be installed: 6 at the SF Terminal, 4 at the Larkspur Terminal, and 2 in Sausalito. These machines will allow customers to purchase ferry tickets and Clipper cards, as well as add value to their Clipper cards. The machines will accept cash and all major credit cards.
In preparing for the arrival of the ATVMs, quite a bit of construction has been taking place at the SF Terminal. Beginning next week, the existing Clipper add value machines in San Francisco will be removed and site preparation work will begin for the new machines. Testing will take place, and will be followed by a “soft launch” period for customers to use and actively test the ATVMs before they are fully implemented in May 2011.
While the new machines are being tested and the existing Clipper machines are out of service, customers may add value to their Clipper cards at the add value machines in Larkspur, at a Ferry ticket window, or at Bay Crossings in the SF Ferry Building. For convenience, customers are encouraged to sign up for Autoload on their Clipper card and have value added automically when the card’s balance gets low. Sign up for Autoload at www.clippercard.com.
