This morning we received the following email from Golden Gate Transit with no explanation …
Golden Gate Larkspur and Sausalito Ferry will be operating full weekday service today, Friday, July 1.
Apparently an agreement was accomplished over night. More later.
The following is from Golden Gate Transit …
The contract with the Inland Boatmen’s Union expires at midnight, tonight, June 30th. A press release was issued earlier this afternoon by the Inlandboatmen’s Union indicating that the Golden Gate Ferry Ticket Agents would undertake a one-day strike, commencing at 4:00 a.m. on Friday, July 1st and continuing until 10:00 p.m. The Golden Gate Ferry system has not been informed of this action, but in light of the press release, has determined that the best course to minimize impacts to our riders, is to announce now that we will not be in service on Friday, July 1st. We have been in good faith bargaining sessions with the Inlandboatmen’s Union over the course of recent months and are surprised by this action.
Golden Gate Transit Bus service will operate regular service on Friday, July 1st, and will offer supplemental service from the Larkspur Ferry Terminal for customers not receiving this information in time. For bus schedule information and trip planning assistance, visit our Bus Schedules page or call 511 (say “Golden Gate Transit,” then “operator” to bypass recorded messages)/TDD 711. The Golden Gate Call Center will open at 6am to assist customers.
Golden Gate Ferry service will resume on Saturday, July 2nd with its weekend schedules.
We apologize for this interruption to our service and will keep you informed by eblast and your local news outlets.
